Box Score

LOS ANGELES - USC controlled the first half, but tired against a deeper UCLA squad and lost 82-64 in front of 1,107 at the Lyon Center.

The injury-depleted Trojans outhustled UCLA and lead by two at half, 36-34, thanks in part to dead-eye free throw shooting (18 of 22).

But three minutes into the second half, SC (7-16 3-11) lost guard Camille Norwood to an injury and also lost their pluck.

UCLA (20-6 11-2) reserve guard LaCresha Flanigan provided a spark, scoring eight of her team's first ten in the second period. She totaled 12.

From there, 6-3 Bruin forward Maylana Martin dominated the dispirited Trojans. Martin scored 38 points, which equals a career-best, and grabbed 18 rebounds.

Senior forward Adrain Williams was tops for the Women of Troy with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Firey freshman guard Tiffany Elmore scored 11 and pulled down 9 rebounds. But the pair totaled a very poor 8 of 36 from the field.

Tashara Carter and Tiffany Washington added 10 apiece for USC.

Troy travels to the Washington schools next weekend and then wraps up the season at home against ASU and the Unversity of Arizona the first weekend in March.

Quotes- USC Coach Chris Gobrecht: "We had them on the ropes in the first half. For some reason, we just didn't bring it in the second half. That's the first time all year we didn't battle. It was basically an eight-point game most of the second half.

"Obviously Maylana is the difference. She's a great player. But we made it too easy. Maylana put that team on her back and carried them."
