About Performance Nutrition

UCLA Athletics Performance Nutrition Department’s mission is to provide all student-athletes with evidence-based, best practice, nutrition resources, knowledge and care to optimize elite athletic performance, academic performance and prevent injury. We support UCLA student-athletes in acquiring skills needed to live a sustainable, healthful lifestyle.

We work directly with student-athletes, coaching staffs, Sports Medicine staff and Athletic Performance staff to ensure that every rep in the weight room, every drill in practice, and every play in competition is effective and injury-free.

SPORT PERFORMANCE IS NOT DEFINED BY A NUMBER ON A SCALE; There is no one way to look like an athlete. 

In order to ensure the department’s mission is accomplished and all needs are met, the UCLA Performance Nutrition Department offers a wide variety of services to our athletes which include:

Acosta Fueling Station

The Acosta Fueling Station serves as the main hub of all fueling needs for UCLA Student Athletes. Athletes are provided pre-workout and mid-day balanced snacks and hydration products to serve as a supplement to their meals. Click HERE for some photos of the Fueling Station.


Acosta Recovery Station

The Acosta Recovery Station is located in the Acosta Weight Room. The athletes are provided with recovery beverages, fresh made smoothies and quick fueling snacks.


Performance Nutrition Staff

Our staff is made up of Performance Dietitians and Food Operations Management. The Dietitians work side-by-side with the Sports Medicine staff and the Athletic Performance staff to ensure a well-rounded approach to overall health and wellness.
