
Bruins Upended by No. 17 Duke

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Georgia Schweitzer scored 22 points, including 18 in the second half, to lift No. 17 Duke to an 85-80 victory over No. 9 UCLA on Monday night.
Schweitzer scored 16 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half to put the Blue Devils (9-4) ahead 68-61. Duke, which trailed by 16 points in the first half, then held on for the victory.
Peppi Browne sealed the win by completing a three-point play with 43 seconds left, which gave the Blue Devils an 83-78 lead. Her uncontested layup with 26 seconds remaining after beating the Bruins' press provided the final margin.
Erica Gomez, Maylana Martin and LaCresha Flanigan scored 14 points each for UCLA (7-4), which lost for only the second time in its last nine games. Rochelle Parent added 13 points for Duke, which has won eight of its last nine games. Browne and Michele VanGorp scored 11 points each for the Blue Devils.
Duke jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first three minutes, but UCLA then went on a 22-4 run to take a 26-15 lead. UCLA's biggest lead was 33-17 with 7:25 remaining in the half.
However, the Blue Devils rallied to cut UCLA's margin to 44-42 at halftime.
