Stockton, Calif. - Sean Kern scored three goals to lead the No. 1 UCLA Men's Water Polo team to a 11-9 victory over USC to the NorCal Tournament championship. UCLA outscored the Trojans 3-0 in the second quarter to take an 8-3 halftime lead. USC cut the lead to 10-8 with 1:59 left in the game, but Kern scored his third goal with 43 seconds remaining to seal the victory. With the win, UCLA improves to 14-2 overall. UCLA has not lost since it fell to USC in the semifinal of the So Cal Tournament in September.
In the semifinal, Adam Wright scored three goals to lead the Bruins to a 9-4 victory over California. The Bruins did not allow a single goal in the first two quarters. Brian Brown scored twice and Brandon Brooks made eight saves in goal.
UCLA returns home next Saturday when it takes on Loyola Marymount at noon.
