CS Northridge Shocks UCLA in Men's Volleyball

Fourth-ranked UCLA was shocked 3-1 in men's volleyball by No. 15 Cal State Northridge Thursday night.

CS Northridge won 15-9, 15-13, 10-15, 16-14 in 2 hours and 45 minutes before 359 fans in the John Wooden Center. The victory snapped UCLA's 17-match winning streak over CS Northridge, although the Bruins lead the series 39-3.

UCLA, 11-3 overall and 5-3 in MPSF play, squandered a 13-5 lead in Game 4 to lose the match. Senior Ed Ratledge led the Bruins with a career high 46 kills, followed by freshman Scott Morrow's 17 kills and match high 10 total blocks. The Bruins, who were hitting .367 entering the match, were limited to a hitting percentage of .268. The Matadors hit .309 and out-blocked UCLA 22-20.5.

Sophomore J.P. Jandreau spiked 30 kills for the Matadors and Junior Mosones and Eckhard Walter each added 25.

The Bruins' next home match will be Sat., Feb. 19 against UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. in the Wooden Center.
