Men's Volleyball Win Finale Against Anteaters

LOS ANGELES -- The fourth-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team won its regular season finale by defeating UC Irvine Friday night in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (24-5, 14-5) defeated the Anteaters (4-15, 10-17) 15-1, 15-8, 15-10 in 85 minutes before 1,661 fans.
The Bruins set the tone in Game 1 by connecting on 14 of 17 kill attempts and hitting at a 77% clip. They scored nine points before the Anteaters got on the scoreboard.
In Game 2, UCLA broke a 4-4 tie and scored the next six points on two kills by sophomore Matt Komer, an ace by senior Brandon Taliaferro and another kill by senior Seth Burnham.
Game 3 followed the same pattern. The Bruins broke from a 4-4 tie to score six straight points. UC Irvine climbed back to 10-7, but three hitting errors by the visitors and a kill by junior Mark Williams gave the Bruins a 14-11 lead. Freshman Cameron Mount ended the match with an ace.
Williams led UCLA with 10 kills and four blocks, followed by nine kills from Komer and eight from Burnham. The Bruins hit .480 as a team and served six aces to the Anteaters' one.
Junior Ty Loomis led UCI with 13 kills three blocks.
