Westwood, CA- After going nearly three weeks without a game, the No. 2 UCLA Bruins picked up right where they left off, beating up on the No. 7 UCSB Gauchos, 14-1, on Senior Day at the Sunset Recreation Center. Accordingly, the Bruins were lead by seniors Kristin Guerin and Coralie Simmons, who combined for five goals in the victory. The Bruins move to 12-2 on the season and are 7-0 in MPSF play. The Gauchos fall to 7-8 and 2-3 in the MPSF.

The Bruins, like they have done all season, got on top early and led throughout the whole contest. A pair of underclassman stole the show in the first quarter, as sophomore Jessica Lopez and junior Kelly Heuchan put the Bruins up 2-0 in the first quarter of play.

The second quarter mirrored the first, as UCLA outscored UCSB 2-0 in the second. Coralie Simmons and sophomore Ashley Stachowski each hit the back of the net for the Bruins to go into halftime up by a score of 4-0.

In the second half, the Bruins came out firing and put the game out of reach. Simmons scored two quick goals for UCLA, her second coming on a 4-meter penalty shot. Fellow senior Kristin Guerin made the score 7-0 soon thereafter with a goal of her own with 4:10 left in the third. With two minutes left the Gauchos got on the scoreboard with a 6-5 goal by junior Mary Blumberg, to move the score to 7-1. In the last minute of action in the third, freshman Thalia Munro and junior Jenny Lamb both scored on assists from junior Elaine Zivich, to put the Bruins up 9-1 going into the final period.

UCLA scored five more goals in the fourth, including Guerin's second of the day. Freshman Natalie Golda added two goals and sophomores Devon McIntyre and Maureen Flanagan each notched a goal for the Bruins to close out the score at 14-1.

The Bruins next match is on April 6th when they travel to play the #1 Stanford Cardinal at 7pm.
