
Bruins Win Fourth Straight by Sweeping 49ers

The top-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team won its fourth straight match, defeating Long Beach State, 3-0, in its MPSF opener.
The Bruins (6-1, 1-0) won 30-28, 30-23, 30-23 in 77 minutes before 959 fans at the Pyramid in Long Beach. The 49ers fell to 3-6 overall, 1-2 in league play.
Junior quick hitter Chris Pena led the Bruins with 14 kills (.423), followed by senior Matt Komer's 12 kills (.476). Junior opposite Cameron Mount added 10 kills, nine digs and six total blocks.
The Bruins hit .376 to the 49ers' .300 ratio and out-blocked them 9.5-4.5.
Matt Meine led Long Beach with 13 kills.
The Bruins will host UC San Diego Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. in the John Wooden Center.
