
Bruins Clipped By No. 6 Stanford, 78-71, In OT

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nicole Powell had 27 points and 14 rebounds to help No. 6 Stanford hold off UCLA 78-71 in overtime Friday night for its eighth consecutive victory.
Kristen Newlin added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinal (15-2, 8-0 Pac-10). T'Nae Thiel scored 10 points.
Nikki Blue had 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Bruins (8-9, 3-5), who dropped their third straight. Lisa Willis added 20 points, and Noelle Quinn had 14 points and four assists.
The game was tied at 65 at the end of regulation, but Stanford outscored UCLA 13-6 in overtime.
Powell, who leads the Pac-10 in scoring and rebounding, was 5-of-8 from 3-point range. Stanford was 9-of-24 from beyond the arc.
UCLA, which led 32-28 at halftime, went 4-of-18 from long range.
