
No. 1 Bruins One Win Away From MPSF Tournament Title

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior attacker Brett Ormsby led top-ranked UCLA into the championship game of the MPSF Tournament with a 10-6 victory over fifth-seeded UC Irvine Saturday evening at the Avery Aquatic Center.
The Bruins (23-2) jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead, a 4-1 advantage at halftime, and exploded for four goals in the third period to take an 8-2 lead over the Anteaters. Senior Josh Hewko added two goals for the Bruins and senior goalkeeper Joe Axelrad tied career high with 14 saves.
The Bruins will face #2 Stanford in the championship match Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The contest will be televised by CSTV.
This season, UCLA is 2-1 against The Cardinal. Stanford beat the Bruins 8-7 on 9/19 but the Bruins claimed victory 10-9 on 10/3 and 7-4 on 10/30.
