Seattle, Wash. - Freshman guard/forward Noelle Quinn scored a career-high 25 points and recorded her third consecutive double-double by pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds as UCLA came from behind to defeat Washington on the road, 64-59, before 3,883 at Bank of America Arena.
UCLA closed the game on a 17-5 run, holding the Huskies to just one basket - a desperation three by Giuliana Mendiola with 11 seconds remaining - in the last 3:55 of the contest. Mendiola's three cut the UCLA lead to three points, but Quinn hit two clutch free throws with seven seconds remaining to secure the victory.
Washington led by seven at 52-45 with 4:43 to play after a 10-0 Washington run that was keyed by five Mendiola points. After the two teams swapped a pair of quick baskets, however, the Bruins put the clamps on the Husky attack, running off 12 consecutive points to take a 59-54 lead they would not relinquish.
Mendiola finished with a game-high 27 points and set UW's career mark for assists, and climbed to fifth all-time in scoring with 1,684 points. But her hot hand could not overcome the Huskies' poor shooting. Washington (12-9, 5-7) shot just 32 percent from the field. UCLA (11-10, 6-6) shot 38 percent from the field.
Lisa Willis (13 points) and Nikki Blue (11 points) joined Quinn in double figure scoring and each had four assists.
UCLA will next face Washington State in Pullman on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2:00 pm.
