
Fourth-Ranked Bruins Take 6-4 Victory Over UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. - Fourth-ranked UCLA scored three unanswered second-half goals as the Bruins held off No. 5 UC Irvine for a 6-4 victory Saturday night at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.
UCI took a 4-3 lead at halftime on the strength of two extra-man goals by junior Dreason Barry. UCLA senior Brett Ormsby scored the lone goal of the third quarter with 1:09 left to knot the game at 4-4. Bruins' sophomore Logan Powell scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on a power play with 2:39 left in the game for a 5-4 lead and senior Ted Peck scored his third goal of the game with 1:21 remaining for insurance. Five of the Bruins' scores were extra-man goals.
Senior goalie Joe Axelrad had six saves for UCLA, which improved to 6-2 on the season. Junior Joe Wynne recorded six stops for the Anteaters, who fell to 7-3. Both teams compete in the Northern California Tournament at Stockton next weekend.
