Results

The third-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team ended its four-match skid Friday night with a five-game victory against Cal State Northridge on the road.

The Bruins won 27-30, 30-23, 30-25, 23-30, 15-10 in two hours and 11 minutes in front of 386 fans at the Matadome. The victory raised UCLA's record to 3-4, 1-3. CS Northridge fell to 2-5, 1-2.

Seeking more production from the middle, Head Coach Al Scates moved senior opposite Steve Klosterman to the net, and the All-American responded with 11 kills and eight block assists. Redshirt freshman Brett Perrine took over at Klosterman's opposite position and added 13 kills. Freshman Garrett Muagututia led the Bruins with 19 kills (.412) and 11 digs, followed by senior Paul George's 18 kills (.448), seven block assists and 21.5 points.

As a team, the Bruins hit .388 and out-blocked the Matadors, 16.0-9.5.

Eric Vance led the Matadors with 18 kills.

UCLA returns home for a six-match home stand beginning Jan. 24 vs. Pepperdine. On Sat., Jan. 27, the Bruins host USC in the 30th Annual Kilgour Cup. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
