Cyndi Gallagher and the No. 14 UCLA Bruin swim and dive team edged out Arizona State 160-140 on Friday afternoon to improve to 4-0 (2-0 Pac-10) on the season. Behind nine event victories and double wins from Nicolette Teo and Marisa Samaniego, the Bruins improved to 17-8-1 all-time against the Sun Devils.

Teo won both the 100 (1:02.11) and 200 breast (2:15.00) races, while Samaniego led the divers with wins on 1M (282.02) and 3M (308.48).

"Nicolette did an awesome job today," said Gallagher. "She won by two seconds in the 100 and over four seconds in the 200. She got out of her comfort zone and was really focused today."

Also posting wins during the meet were Anna Poteete in the 200 free (1:49.60), Madeleine Stanton in the 200 back (2:02.54), Emily Bibb in the 500 free (55.13), Sam Vanden Berge in the 1000 Free (10:09.10) and Lauren Hall in the 400 IM (4:19.67).

"Anna was good today. A little inconsistent, but she still did a good job today. Madeleine had a great day in the 200 back, and Emily had a good meet and was great in the relay. We used Lauren a lot today and she stepped up and swam great. She had one of the fastest splits of the day in the 400 free relay right after winning the 400 IM.

"Sam, Dani (Milligan) and Kelly (Colligan) also had some strong performances today."

The Bruins will next fact No. 2 Arizona on Saturday at noon. On Friday, the Wildcats defeated USC 178-120.
