
UCLA takes first two games at the Stanford Invitational

The two-time NCAA champion UCLA Women's Water Polo Team began their season today, defeating fourth-ranked California 10-2, and fifth ranked Hawaii 12-4 in the first day of the Stanford Invitational.
In the first game, the Bruins jumped on the Bears early, outscoring them 6-1 before halftime. In the second half, the Bruins extended their lead and cruised to a 10-2 victory.
In their second game of the day, the Bruins fell behind early to Hawaii, ending the first quarter down 3-2. They then shut out their opponent and scored seven goals over the next two quarters to take a comfortable lead. The Bruins won the game 12-4. Kelly Rulon, Katie Rulon, and Jillian Kraus all recorded three goals in the victory.
The Bruins will play Indiana tomorrow (2/4/07) at 9:10 am to complete bracket play. If they win, they will play in the championship of the tournament at 4:30 pm. The Tournament is being held on the campus of Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.
