Sophomore Marisa Samaniego will be returning to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships for the second consecutive year as she punched her ticket on Thursday with a fourth-place finish on three-meter at the NCAA Zone E Championshps in Oklahoma City, OK.

Samaniego posted a score of 600.35 points as Stanford's Cassidy Krug won the event with 666.30 points. Megan Farrow of Hawaii (621.05) and Tawni Jones of BYU (601.60) finished second and third to round out the top-four finishers, all of whom advance to the NCAA Championships.

"It's really great to know Marisa will be returning to the NCAA Championships after just the first day of competition," said dive coach Tom Stebbins. "Last year we had to wait, but now we already know. I'm excited for Marisa and she's excited as well."

Senior Sara Clark finished seventh (538.95), but could earn a spot the national meet if she puts on a fine performance on Friday.

"Sara had some open opportunities to move up, but couldn't," added Stebbins. "She'll come back tomorrow and hopefully place high enough to get an invite to nationals, but we probably won't know until Saturday."

Senior Amanda Blong (232.75) and sophomore Tess Schofield (230.00) finished 23rd and 26th, respectively.

"Amanda struggled a little today, but she will be ready to go tomorrow."

Schofield was slated to compete on 1M, but will instead rest up for her competition on platform Saturday.

The one-meter competition will begin at 8:30 am (PST) on Friday.
