Marisa Samaniego, who has already qualified on three-meter, and Sara Clark and Amanda Blong picked up spots for the NCAA Championships on Friday as all three qualified on one-meter at the NCAA Zone E Championships in Oklahoma City, OK.
Samaniego, who was fourth on three-meter on Thursday, finished third on one-meter today, posting a score of 541.05. Clark and Blong tied for fourth with identical scores of 527.05. Stanford's Cassidy Krug won her second event of the meet with a score of 617.60.
"We had a great day and I couldn't be happier," said dive coach Tom Stebbins. "We were so disciplined and really took command of the contest. We had chances and opportunities to move up and we took advantage of that.
"This is by far the best performance we have ever had at this meet. This is also the greatest group of athletes we've ever had competing at the NCAA Championships."
The threesome of Blong, Clark and Samaniego will compete at the NCAA Swim & Dive Championships in Minneapolis, MN March 8-10.
Tess Schofield, who did not compete on one-meter, will be the sole representative for UCLA on platform on Saturday. Schofield has not lost an event since November and is primed to pick up UCLA's fourth NCAA participant. The tower event is slated to begin at 8:30 am (PST).
