The UCLA men's volleyball team won the annual match against the Alumni on Saturday in Pauley Pavilion.
The varsity won all four sets played, 30-26, 30-25, 30-26, 30-26.
Leading the way for the varsity was sophomore opposite Jack Polales, who led both teams with 17 kills (.481) an ace and one block assist for 18.5 points. Redshirt freshman Jack Mergenthaler pounded10 kills (.389) and Dylan Bowermaster added nine (.412). Senior setter Kevin Ker recorded 27 set assists and sophomore Alex Scattareggie added 21. Junior libero Tom Hastings recorded seven digs to lead the varsity.
Former manager Eilliot PK McDonald led the alumni with 16 kills, three total blocks and 18.0 points. Seth Burnham added 10 kills and five block assists. Court Young did most of the setting for the alumni and recorded 32 assists. Tony Ker led both teams with 10 digs.
The varsity hit .300 and recorded 11.5 blocks and five aces. The Alumni hit .209 with 9.5 blocks and four aces.
Next match for the Bruins will be in the SAC Tournament on Nov. 20-21. The Bruins will host Cal Baptist at 4 p.m. on Nov. 20. On Nov. 21 the Bruins meet UCSB at 10 a.m. and CS Northrdige at 3 p.m. Admission is free and all matches will be held at the Student Activities Center (Men's Gym).
