The UCLA men's golf team was in third place after the first round of the U.S. Collegiate Championship Sunday at the Golf Club of Georgia,

The Bruins posted a round of 286 (-2) and trailed host and front-runner Georgia Tech by 15 shots. The Yellowjackets torched the course with a score of 271 (-17) and held a 13-shot lead over runner-up Texas A&M (284, -4). USC was fourth at 288 (E), followed by Virginia at 289 (+1).

Individually, four UCLA players were among the Top 25 individuals: Gregor Main, tied for seventh at 70 (-2); Pontus Widegren, tied for 14th at 71 (-1); Patrick Cantlay, tied for 19th at 72 (E) and Mario Clemens, tied for 22nd at 73 (+1). Junior Alex Shi Yup Kim was tied for 69th after posting an uncharacteristic score of 79 (+7).

Georgia Tech's James White fired an opening round of 62 (-10) and was the first round leader.
