
No. 4 UCLA Women's Water Polo Defeats No. 13 Cal State Northridge, 9-5

LOS ANGELES - Juniors Megan Burmeister and Priscilla Orozco scored a team-leading two goals each to lead the No. 4 UCLA women's water polo team past No. 13 Cal State Northridge, 9-5, in the Bruins' first match at the new Spieker Aquatics Center.
UCLA (6-3) also received one goal each from juniors Kelly Easterday and Grace Reynolds, sophomore KK Clark and freshmen Emily Greenwood and Heather Van Hiel.
The Bruins led by a 2-1 margin after the first quarter and added three more goals in the second period to lead 5-2 at halftime. UCLA outscored the Matadors, 2-1, in the third quarter to secure a 7-3 cushion. The Bruins and Matadors each registered two goals in the final quarter.
Cal State Northridge's Whitney Delgado led the Matadors (7-2) with three goals.
UCLA sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Dement registered a season-high 11 saves in the cage. Cal State Northridge goalkeeper Jillian Stapf made 10 stops.
The Bruins return to action at No. 3 California on Saturday, Feb. 20, for the Bruins' first MPSF contest of the season. Game time at California's Spieker Aquatics Complex is 7 p.m.
