The Bruin swimmers picked up at the NCAA Championships where they left off at Pac-10s with record-breaking performances on day one of the national meet in West Lafayette, IN.

Junior Lauren Hall started the Bruins off on a high note as she broke her own school record in the 200 IM with a 17th-place swim of 1:57.92, bettering her previous best of 1:58.90.

She then anchored the 400 medley relay team to a school record performance and 16th-place finish in the event. Their time of 3:37.70 bettered the previous school record of 3:38.38. Frosh Laurence Delisle led off the relay in the backstroke leg, followed by junior Brittany Beauchan in the breaststroke, sophomore Bianca Casciari in the fly and then Hall in the freestyle portion.

Also on day one of the NCAA Championships, Delisle finished 26th in the 200 IM (1:59.62), while Casciari placed 36th (2:00.02). In the 500 free, junior Sam Vanden Berge placed 45th (4:47.09), while sophomore Yasi Jahanshahi was 58th (4:52.45).

Competition continues on Friday with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, three-meter diving and the 800 free relay.
