
UCLA Rallies to Victory in Georgia

The third-ranked UCLA men's golf team won its first tournament of the season Tuesday, the U.S. Collegiate Championship at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, GA.
Every UCLA player birdied the final hole and the team played the inward nine in three-under par to overtake 36-hole leader Georgia Tech for the title. The Bruins posted a final round team score of 283 (-5), the lowest of the day. Over two days, the Bruins played the final 36 holes in 12-under par.
UCLA (852, -12) won by three shots over Washington and Auburn, which tied for second at 855 (-9). Host Georgia Tech finished fourth at 864 (E), followed by Clemson and Iowa in a tie for fifth at 868 (+4). Opening round leader USC was seventh at 871 (+7).
Four UCLA players recorded Top 20 finishes, led by sophomore All-American Patrick Cantlay, who tied for third place at 212 (-4) following a final round even par score of 72. Junior Pontus Widegren tied for 17th at even par 216 after he posted a 72 (E) on Tuesday. Tied for 19th place were juniors Pedro Figueiredo and Mario Clemens at 217 (+1). Clemens took low score honors with a 69 (-3) and Figueiredo carded a 71 (-1). Senior Alex Kim tied for 22nd at 218 (+2) following a round of 74 (+2) on Tuesday.
Johannes Veerman of Texas A&M and Dominic Bozzelli tied for first at 210 (-6).
