The No. 1/No. 3 (Golfstat/Golfweek) ranked UCLA men's golf team finished round one of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters Tournament in a tie for 8th place.

The Bruins recorded an overall score of 301 (+13) while Texas A&M ended the day as the round one leaders with a score of 280 (-8). The Aggies hold a 12 shot lead over second place Arizona State, who put up a score of 292 (+4). California, Texas, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech all tied for 3rd at 294 (+6).

Individually, senior Connor Driscoll posted a first round score of 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for 14th. He is currently nine shots back of the leader. Freshman Patrick Cantlay posted a 75 (+3) to end up tied for 25th place while sophomore Pontus Widegren tied for 36th after recording a score of 76 (+4). Finishing out the lineup were freshman Anton Arboleda and junior Gregor Main, who posted 77 (+5) and 80 (+8) to tie for 44th and 65th place respectively.

Jordan Russell of Texas A&M was the first round leader with a score of 64 (-8).
