Senior Sam Vanden Berge capped off her Bruin career with a school record on the final day of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Austin, TX.

The distance swimmer broke the school mark in the 1650 free (previously held by Katie Nelson, 16:05.04) with a lifetime-best performance in the finals on Saturday. Her time of 16:04:81 improved upon her previous lifetime mark of 16:09.40 and placed her 12th overall in the competition. With today's finish, Vanden Berge earned All-America honorable mention accolades in the mile. Her performance also was her highest career finish at the NCAA Championships.

Two other Bruins earned honorable mention honors on Saturday - Senior Brittany Beauchan and junior Yasi Jahanshahi. Beauchan advanced to the B final in the 200 breast with a 12th-place swim of 2:10.42. In the B Final, the senior moved up to 10th overall with a time of 2:09.54. Jahanshahi was 13th after the prelims of the 200 fly and then moved up to 11th in the B final (1:55.93).

Also on Saturday, senior Lauren Hall finished 28th in the 200 breast (2:12.38) and junior Bianca Casciari was 27th in the 200 fly (1:57.82). The 400 free relay team of freshman Cynthia Fascella, Hall, senior Alex Sullivan and Casciari finished 23rd overall in a time of 3:21.61.

Cal won the team title, while Georgia (2nd), USC (3rd), Stanford (4th) and Arizona (5th) rounded out the top five teams. The Bruins finished 20th overall in the team competition.
