Top-seeded UCLA fell to fifth-seeded Texas A&M Monday on the second day of competition in the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, GA.
Freshman Patrick Cantlay recorded the Bruins' only victory at No.1 singles, capturing a 4 and 3 decision against Jordan Russell. In a match that started on the fifth hole, Cantlay held a 3-up lead after the 18th hole and closed out the match with a birdie at the first.
Juniors Gregor Main (1-up) and Alex Shi Yup Kim (3 and 2) and sophomore Mario Clemens (2 and 1) all lost their matches, while Connor Driscoll halved his match against Cameron Peck.
The Bruins will meet 15th-seeded East Tennessee State Tuesday for seventh place.
