
Third-Ranked Bruins Advance to 10th Straight NCAA Championship

Bowling Green, Ky. - The third-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished in third place at the NCAA Bowling Green Regional and advanced to their 10th consecutive NCAA Championship, extending the school record.
The Bruins shot a final round 292 (+4) to finish with a total score of 863 (-1), good for third place. Chattanooga won the Bowling Green Regional with an overall score of 859 (-5) after posting a final round 284 (-4). Texas A&M finished in second place with a score of 860 (-4) after shooting a third round 287 (-1). Virginia Tech and Memphis rounded out the top five with overall scores of 874 (+10) and 876 (+12) respectively. All five teams will be moving on to the NCAA Championship.
Individually, junior Pedro Figueiredo finished runner up after shooting a final round 70 (-2) to give him an overall score of 207 (-9). Figueiredo finished four strokes behind medalist winner Stephen Jaeger of Chattanooga, who posted a total of 203 (-13). Senior Alex Shi Yup Kim shot a final round 77 (+5) to give him a total score of 219 (+3), good for a tie for 17th place. Sophomore Patrick Cantlay recorded a 76 (+4) for his round to finish tied for 19th at 220 (+4) while sophomore Anton Arboleda finished tied for 23rd at 221 (+5) after shooting a final round 73 (+1). Finally, junior Pontus Widegren posted a 73 (+1) for his final round to finish in a tie for 46th with a score of 227 (+11).
The Bruins will be back out on the course for the final time this year from Tuesday, May 29th to Sunday, June 3rd at the NCAA Championship at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif. Patrick Cantlay played this course earlier this year when he competed in the PGA Northern Trust Open and posted a score of 150 (+8) in two rounds.
The format of the NCAA Championship will be 54 holes of stroke play played from Tuesday to Thursday, after which the field will be cut down to the top eight finishers. Those top eight teams will then play three rounds of single elimination match play against each other.
