Head men's track and field coach Mike Maynard has announced the additional signing of sprinter Yusef Merriweather to a National Letter-of-Intent.
Merriweather will transfer in from Riverside Community College after prepping at Bloomington HS. He currently has top marks of 6.86 in the 60m, a wind-aided 10.29 in the 100m and 20.87 in the 200m.
"We have been committed to Yusef for a long time through this process, and we are excited to finally welcome him in to the Bruin family," said Maynard. "He is a great talent, and his speed will bring strength and added depth in the short sprints. He will be an immediate impact on an already successful 4x100m relay team."
With Merriweather's signing, the Bruins' recruiting class now stands at 10 student-athletes. Signing earlier in the NLI period were Cody Crampton (high jump), Jonah Diaz (distance), Nicholas Hartle (middle distance), Blake Selig (sprints/jumps), Connor Stark (pole vault), Justin Unno (distance), Daniel Herrera (distance), Alexander Monsivaiz (distance) and Austin O'Neil (distance).
