The 2012-13 preseason collegiate golf polls were released this week and the UCLA golf programs were ranked among the Top 5 on both lists.
Carrie Forsyth's women's team was ranked second after receiving six first place votes in the National Golf Coaches Assn. poll (Sept. 3). The Bruins led a group of six Pac-12 teams, including USC (third) and Arizona State (fourth). Arizona (14th), Colorado (16th) and California (18th) represented the other Pac-12 schools.
The UCLA men, coached by Derek Freeman, were ranked fourth in the season's first coaches poll, and did not receive any first place votes. Half a dozen Pac-12 schools were ranked, including California (third), Washington (fifth) and USC (ninth). Stanford (11th) and Oregon (14th) also received mention.
Alabama was ranked No. 1 in both polls.
