Los Angeles, Calif. – No. 24 UCLA shot a season-high 57.7% from the field (30-52) and hit a season-best eight three-point shots to defeat CSU Bakersfield, 82-68 in Pauley Pavilion. UCLA sophomore guard Jordin Canada scored 14 points in the first quarter and a season-high 25 points overall to lead the Bruins in scoring for the fourth time in six games.

UCLA (4-2) utilized an 8-0 run over a 1:50 period to jump out to an 11-4 lead and never looked back. The Bruins took the lead at 5-4 on a layup by Canada at 8:46 and ended their run on a fast break layup by Monique Billings with 6:56 left in the first. UCLA shot a scorching 60% (9-of-15) in the first quarter while harassing the Roadrunners (1-7) into 21.1% shooting from the field (4-of-19). Canada made 6-of-7 shots in the quarter, including a three-pointer at the buzzer that gave UCLA a 23-10 advantage after the first.

Billings took over in the second quarter, scoring eight of her career-high 19 points. UCLA led by as many as 22 points in the half, 41-19, thanks to a Billings layup at 2:49, but CSU Bakersfield chipped away at the lead and closed to within 14 at the half, 47-33, on back-to-back three pointers by Erika Williams, who finished the day with career-highs of 24 points and six three-pointers made.

Kari Korver started the second half with two three-pointers that gave UCLA a 53-36 advantage. A block by Billings followed by a lob pass from Nirra Fields to Kacy Swain for the layup extended UCLA's lead to 20, 57-37. The Bruins ended the third quarter up 68-47 thanks to seven third quarter points by Swain.

The Roadrunners turned it on in the fourth quarter and trimmed UCLA's lead to 12, 75-63, with 2:56 to play in the fourth quarter on a jumper by Tylinn Carter, but Canada hit an acrobatic layup as she was fouled, putting the Bruins' lead back up to 15 with 2:39 to play.

Joining Canada and Billings with season-high totals was Korver, who tied her season-best with 12 points. She also set a new season best with four three-pointers made. Billings and Swain tied for the team lead in rebounds with eight apiece.

UCLA will next play at Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 13. The rematch of the 2015 WNIT Semifinals will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
