No. 8 UCLA Falls from the Ranks of the Unbeaten

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The eighth-ranked Bruins (5-1) fell from the ranks of the unbeaten on Saturday afternoon when No. 5 Long Beach State (8-2) posted a 5-0 win at the LBSU Sand Courts. The Bruins dropped to 0-3 all-time against the 49ers.
The UCLA No.1 doubles pair of Kamila Tan and Zoë Nightingale fell in straight sets to the Long Beach State pair of Delainey Aigner-Swee and Chelsea Cabrajac, 21-16, 21-9. The newly formed Bruin pair is now 2-2 on the year.
At #2 doubles, the Bruins' Elise Zappia and Madie Smith lost in straight sets to LBSU's Tyler Jackson and Anete Brinke, 21-11, 21-11. The Bruin duo is now 7-3 on the season.
Julie Consani and Laurel Weaver was the only pair to take a set off the 49ers, falling in three sets, 22-20, 20-22, 13-15 at No. 3 doubles to the 49er duo of Bre Mackie and Jenelle Hudson. The Bruin tandem is now 5-1 in 2015.
At #4 doubles, Karly Drolson and Rachel Inouye fell in straight sets to Long Beach State's Andrea McHugh and Ciana Wagner, 21-12, 21-18. The Bruin pair is now 4-2 on the year.
At #5 doubles, the Bruins' new tandem of Ivey Schmitt and Kendahl Hettick dropped their first match, falling in straight sets, 21-18, 21-14, to the 49er duo of Rachel Nieto and Sammee Thomas. The Bruin tandem is now 1-1 on the year.
The Bruins return to action next weekend at the Stanford Invitational from April 10-12.
