LOS ANGELES -- Jordin Canada scored a game-high 26 points and added seven assists, four rebounds and three steals, but it wasn't enough as USC put an end to UCLA's four-game winning streak with a 71-68 win at Galen Center on Sunday night.
The Bruins had no answer for USC post players Temi Fagbenle (20 points, 15 rebounds) and Kristen Simon (14 points, 11 boards) as the Trojans would hold on for the close win.
USC (14-2, 2-2 Pac-12 Conference) got nine points from Fagbenle in an 11-2 run that pushed the Trojans to their biggest lead, 59-45 with 5:14 remaining in the game. But the Bruins outscored the Trojans 13-5 in the closing minutes, pulling to 63-58 on Canada's jumper with 1:43 left. Jordan Adams made six consecutive free throws over the final 1:17, and Simon added two more with 18 seconds to play to enable USC to hang on.
Nirra Fields (13 points) was the only other Bruin to score in double figures for UCLA (11-4, 3-1), which lost its first conference game and saw its three-game winning streak over USC snapped.
Jordan Adams and Sadie Edwards each had 13 points and four rebounds for USC.
