HONOLULU -- For the second time this week No. 5 UCLA (12-4) pulled off an upset by a score of 3-2, this time winning at No. 4 Hawai'i (10-6) on Saturday afternoon at the Outrigger Beach Volleyball Challenge at Queen's Beach in Waikiki.

It marked the Bruins' second win over the Rainbow Wahine this season (2-4 all-time).

Hawai'i scored the first point on court five when Ginger Long and Mikayla Tucker defeated UCLA's duo of senior Julie Consani and junior Laurel Weaver in straight sets, 21-17, 21-11.

UCLA tied it up at 1-1 on court four when freshman Zana Muno and sophomore Reily Buechler defeated UH's Ari Homayun and Hannah Zalopany in straight sets, 21-19, 21-16.

The Bruins then took a 2-1 lead with a straight-set victory at the No. 3 flight as sophomore Elise Zappia and freshman Izzy Carey defeated Hawai'i's Hannah Rooks and Ka'iwi Schucht, 23-21, 21-16.

UCLA's freshmen pair of Nicole McNamara and Megan McNamara, secured the team win with a come-from-behind three-set win over the Rainbow Wahine's Nikki Taylor and Lara Schreiber, 17-21, 21-16, 15-6.

Hawai'i claimed the final point on court two to provide the 3-2 final when its duo of Katie Spieler and Emily Maglio defeated the Bruins' senior Kamila Tan and sophomore Ivey Schmitt in three sets, 12-21, 21-14, 15-11.

Earlier in the day, the Bruins swept Arizona State 5-0 but individual scores were reported late. They are at the bottom.

The Bruins return to action on April 9-10 at the 2016 USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge in Hermosa Beach, Calif. The event is free to the public and runs all day long with seven teams slated to participate. More details will be provided next week.
