After a goal from two meters by Odysseas Masmanidis (5:53) cut the lead to 7-3, Marshall returned the favor with a goal at set (4:50) to push the lead to 8-3. Masmanidis scored his second on a power play to cut it to 8-4 (3:20), but Irving's power play goal (1:39) completed his hat trick giving UCLA a 9-4 advantage.
