LOS ANGELES – Senior Kennedy Burke tallied 20 points, six rebounds and three assists, as the UCLA women's basketball team charged to a 71-59 win over Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.

Playing in front of 2,501 fans, UCLA shot a season-best 52.5 percent (31-for-59) from the field. The Bruins also outscored the Cowgirls by 32 (50-18) in the paint and outrebounded them by 18 in the second half to even its record to 5-5 on the season.

Burke did her damage on 9-for-14 shooting, scoring on strong drives to the hoop and nifty buckets that included a last-second alley-oop to cap the third quarter.

Senior Lajahna Drummer also played big, scoring a season-high 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds for her fourth career double-double. Sophomore Michaela Onyenwere added 16 points and six rebounds, while redshirt freshman Lindsey Corsaro posted eight points and four assists.

The Storyline
UCLA forced Oklahoma State to start 1-for-8 from the field and jumped to an early 14-4 advantage after a layup by Corsaro. The Bruins got work done inside thanks to Drummer, who mustered six points and four boards in the first quarter.

After the Cowgirls (7-2) pulled to within three (24-21) early in the second frame, the Bruins fired back with a 7-2 run to push their lead to eight (31-23), as Burke notched an and-one and then sophomore Chantel Horvat converted on a strong take to the hoop.

The Bruins entered the locker room up two, led by Burke's 11 first-half points. UCLA shot 51.7 percent in the opening 20 minutes and outscored Oklahoma State in the paint, 22-12.

UCLA amped up its defensive pressure in the third, holding Oklahoma State without a point for over six minutes to spark a 14-0 run and stretch the Bruin lead to 47-33 after a turn-around jumper by Onyenwere.

In the final seconds of the third, sophomore Lauryn Miller tossed an alley-oop to Burke, who scored at the buzzer to make it 53-38 Bruins. UCLA outscored Oklahoma State in the stanza 20-7 to pull away.

Oklahoma State pulled to within nine (59-50) before Horvat notched back-to-back buckets, including a fast-break layup off one of seven dimes by senior Japreece Dean.

The Cowgirls never got closer than 10 down the stretch, and UCLA hit five of its final six from the field to seal the win.
