
UCLA Remains Unbeaten with 59-50 Win at Georgia

Athens, Ga. - No. 10 UCLA used relentless play and a season-high performance on the boards to defeat Georgia, 59-50 on Thursday morning at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bruins outrebounded the Bulldogs by a 50-37 count, the 50 rebounds being a team season-high. UCLA had a 21-6 advantage on the offensive glass.
Junior forward Michaela Onyenwere led all players with 19 points, 15 coming in a decisive first half. She also added nine rebounds. Junior forward Lauryn Miller recorded her third double-double with a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 12 points. Eight of her rebounds were offensive boards. Miller recorded her 200th career rebound in the first half.
UCLA (10-0) went on a 7-0 run to go ahead 17-12 with 21 seconds left in the first quarter, but a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Gabby Connally cut the lead to just two, 17-15, at the end of the period.
The Bruins scored the first eight points of the second quarter to extend their lead to 25-15 and held Georgia (7-4) scoreless until the 3:13 mark. UCLA led 33-19 at the half and had a 31-17 rebounding advantage, with 14 offensive boards.
UCLA did not let up in third quarter, starting with an 8-4 run to take a 41-23 lead. The Bulldogs scored nine unanswered to cut the 18-point advantage to nine, 41-32, but UCLA got the lead back up to 12, 48-36, at the end of the quarter thanks to a three-pointer by Lindsey Corsaro.
Another three at the start of the fourth quarter, this time by Charisma Osborne, upped UCLA's lead to 15, 51-36, and the Bruins held a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the quarter until the Bulldogs' final basket with 32 seconds left in the contest.
The Bruins will next travel to Indiana for a Sunday, Dec. 22 contest against the No. 12/14 Hoosiers to wrap up non-conference play. The game will be televised live on Big Ten Network.
