LA QUINTA, Calif. - The Bruins finished seventh at The Prestige presented by Charles Schwab. UCLA shot a 1-over 285 on Wednesday at the Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST to close at 3-under 849.
Junior Eddy Lai was the top UCLA finisher, tying for 10th (-4, 209). He shot an even-par 71 on Wednesday, making two birdies on No. 12 and 15 and two bogeys. Junior Devon Bling was under par for his final round, shooting a 1-under 70, making four birdies (No. 9, 11, 14 and 16), one bogey and one double bogey. Bling tied for 21st (-1, 212). Sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh tied for 34th (+1, 214), posting a 3-over 74 in his final round. He made an eagle-2 on the par-4 9th, three birdies (No. 1, 4 and 11), five bogeys and a triple. Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara tied for 45th (+4, 217), recording a 2-over 73 on Wednesday. He made one birdie on No. 11, one bogey and one double. Freshman Tony Hendricks tied for 67th (+11, 224), shooting an even-par 71 on two birdies (No. 11 and 14) and two bogeys.
A trio of individuals finished up play at The Prestige Individual Tournament at Coral Mountain Golf Club. Freshman Mason Greene tied for 15th (-1, 215), shooting an even-par 72 on four birdies (No. 3, 5, 12 and 15) and four bogeys. Sophomore Ahmed Ali tied for 22nd (+5, 221), recording a 2-over 74 on two birdies (No. 12 and 15), two bogeys and a double. Sophomore Rory Feng finished 26th (+12, 228), posting a 4-over 76 on two birdies (No. 7 and 16), four bogeys and a double.
The Bruins' next event will be an individual tournament, The Joust, at Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley, Calif. (Feb. 24-25). UCLA's next team event will be the Southern Highlands Collegiate, held March 1-3 at Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
