LOS ANGELES -- No. 2 UCLA (13-2) posted a pair of 3-2 victories on Wednesday afternoon at USC's Merle Norman Stadium. The Bruins rallied to defeat No. 6 USC (6-5) in the first dual of the day and then held on for a 3-2 win over No. 9 Pepperdine (2-5) in the second.

In the first dual against USC, the Bruins improved to 11-12 all-time against the Trojans with their third-straight win over USC dating back to last year's NCAA Championship game. The Bruins lost the first two points in the first flight when Joy Dennis and Harper Hallgren of USC defeated the Bruins' freshman duo of Devon Newberry and Rileigh Powers on court four in straight sets, 21-15, 22-20. Then the freshman tandem of Audrey and Nicole Nourse won a three-set thriller over UCLA's duo of senior Lily Justine and junior Lea Monkhouse on court three, 21-23, 21-18, 15-13, to put the Trojans up 2-0.

The Bruins mounted their comeback in the second flight, which began on court one when senior Savvy Simo and sophomore bby Van Winkle took down USC's Haley Hallgren and Hailey Harward in straight sets, 21-19, 21-10. Then freshman Lexi Denaburg and Lindsey Sparks tied the dual at 2-2 with a straight-set win on court two over USC's Kyla Doig and Sammy Slater, 21-16, 23-21. Like it did five days ago, the deciding point came down to court five where UCLA's junior pair of Mac May and Megan Muret rallied to beat the Trojans' tandem of Cammie Dorn and Paige Dreeuws, 17-21, 21-14, 15-11. In exhibition play, UCLA's graduate transfer, Jacqueline Quade, paired with redshirt sophomore Cami Sanchez and rallied to defeat USC's Mollie Ebertin and Maja Kaiser, 12-21, 21-17, 15-12.

Then in the final dual of the day, the Bruins defeated the Waves, 3-2, to improve to 8-6 all-time against Pepperdine. The Bruins got on the board first on court three as Monkhouse and Justine defeated the Waves' Alexis Filippone and Sutton Mactavish in straight sets, 21-15, 21-19. But the Waves tied it up at 1-1 on court four as Simone Priebe and Melanie Paul posted a straight-set win over Powers and Newberry, 23-21, 23-21. The Bruins took a 2-1 lead after May and Muret defeated Mary Sinclair and Savana Greene on court five in two easy sets, 21-13, 21-10. Court one was the decisive court as Simo and Van Winkle took down Pepperdine's Deahna Kraft and Brook Bauer in straight sets, 21-16, 21-13, to clinch the dual. The Waves' Carly Skjodt and Gigi Hernandez defeated UCLA's Denaburg and Sparks on court two in straight sets, 23-21, 21-16, to provide the 3-2 final. In exhibition action, Quade and Sanchez were again victorious as they beat Michaela Kasper and Katie Gavin, 21-13, 21-17.

The Bruins now head to Zuma Beach in Malibu, Calif., to compete in the Zuma Classic on Saturday, March 14. The Bruins will open with No. 18 Georgia State (8-3) at 10:15 a.m. PT and will then face Pepperdine again at 11:30 a.m. PT. UCLA will conclude the tournament with No. 5 Cal Poly (7-2) at 2:00 p.m. PT.
