Rice Records Triple-Double in Blowout Win over CSUN

LOS ANGELES – UCLA Women's Basketball (8-0, 0-0 Pac-12) picked up their eighth-straight win of the season against Cal State University Northridge (2-5, 0-0 Big West) at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Thursday night. The No. 2 Bruins won 111-48 over the Matadors.
Sophomore Kiki Rice completed her first career a triple-double, scoring 14 points alongside 10 assists and 10 rebounds. Her performance was the tenth triple-double in program history, and the first since Charisma Osborne (18 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists vs. USC, Feb. 26, 2021). Rice also stole the ball seven times.
Six Bruins ended the game with double-digit scoring performances. UCLA was powerful in the paint, scoring 64 points, and picked up an additional 38 points off of the fast break.
Sophomore Londynn Jones was the team's leading scorer, finishing with 19 points. Sophomores Gabriela Jaquez and Lauren Betts each picked up 18 points apiece, and Jaquez nearly completed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds.
Every Bruin that touched the court picked up multiple rebounds, and the team totaled 54 boards in the game. The Bruins picked up 18 rebounds off of the offensive glass, contributing to 21 second-chance points throughout the night.
UCLA started strong, outscoring CSUN 23-5 in the first quarter. Betts opened up the game with a put-back layup, her first of eight points in the quarter. The Bruins held the Matadors to zero field goals in the first nine minutes of play. Rice finished the first period with five rebounds, four assists, and a steal, highlighting her skill on both sides of the court.
The Bruins' defensive effort was strong in the second, forcing 13 turnovers from the Matadors and scoring 22 points off the cough ups as a result. A steal by Rice led to a successful three-point play to grow UCLA's lead. Rice led the quarter in scoring, followed by Jones and Jaquez, who picked up seven points in the quarter.
Angela Dugalić and Christeen Iwuala stood out in the third, picking up six points each without missing a shot. Dugalić also picked up three rebounds and an assist in the period. The quarter's final play turned a steal from senior Izzy Anstey into a powerful Jaquez layup, with Jones assisting.
The Bruins finished the game strong. Senior Charisma Osborne finished the period with seven points and two assists. The Bruins ended the quarter with 15 rebounds, including 12 off of the defensive glass. UCLA ended the game on an 18-3 scoring run over the Matadors to seal the 63-point victory.
