LOS ANGELES โ Middle blocker Anna Dodson and outside hitter Cheridyn Leverette were named to the AVCA Pacific All-Region team, as announced on Tuesday.
Dodson and Leverette are now in contention for first, second, or third team AVCA All-American status, with the announcement set for Wednesday, Dec. 18. This marks Dodson's third career AVCA All-Region honor and Leverette's first. Dodson received AVCA Pacific All-Region Honorable Mention in the 2022 season and achieved All-American status in 2023.
Anna Dodson led UCLA with 105 total blocks and 18 solo blocks. She accumulated 308.5 points, averaging 3.00 points per set, which ranked second on the team behind Leverette. Offensively, Dodson recorded 239 kills with an average of 2.32 kills per set and achieved a hitting percentage of .311, the second-best on the team.
Dodson achieved a career-high 20 kills and 24.5 points against Minnesota on Oct. 14, with an impressive hitting percentage of .462. Another notable showing came against TCU on Sept. 23 when she finished with 14.5 points, registering nine kills, three blocks, and three service aces.
Throughout her final season at UCLA, she recorded double-digit kills with a hitting percentage of .500 or higher on five separate occasions. On Oct. 5, Dodson set a career-best with 11.0 blocks against Michigan. Her 18 solo blocks this year placed her third in the conference rankings. Over her career, Dodson has secured the 10th spot on UCLA's all-time lists for both block assists (367) and total blocks (441).
Leverette enjoyed breakout junior campaign that saw her finish sixth in the Big Ten for kills-per-set (4.14) and eighth in total kills (435). She ranked third in the conference with 4.17 kills-per-set during league matches. The Hampton, Ga. native tallied 20 or more kills on three occasions, including a career-high 29 kills at nationally-ranked Purdue on Oct. 17. This performance marks the highest kill tally by a Bruin since Mac May's 39-kill showing at Washington State on Oct. 3, 2021.
Leverette led UCLA in five different categories including points (464.0), points-per-set (4.42), kills (435), kills-per-set (4.14), and total attempts (1,100). She enjoyed an extraordinary run of 20 consecutive contests with double-digit kills from Aug. 30 to Nov. 2, becoming just the fifth Bruin in the 25-point rally scoring era (2008-present) to achieve that feat. Leverette reached double figures in 28 of the 29 matches she appeared in during the 2024 season.
Her most efficient attacking display came in a 15-kill showing versus LIU, hitting .500 for the contest. In the season finale against Oregon, Leverette put down 23 kills in another excellent performance.
