No. 1 Bruins Improve to 12-0 With Win Over Creighton

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The No.1-ranked UCLA Women's Basketball team (12-0, 1-0 Big Ten) won its 12th-consecutive game of the season against Creighton at Chase Center in San Francisco, California on Friday night. The final score was 70-41.
Angela Dugalić recorded her second double-double of the season in the Bruins' win against the Bluejays (9-3, 1-0 Big East). She finished the game with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Kiki Rice recorded her second 20-point game of the season alongside five rebounds and four assists.
UCLA was particularly dominant on the defensive end, holding Creighton to only 23% from the field. The Bruins outrebounded the Bluejays 59-26. UCLA also took charge in the paint, outscoring Creighton 34-14 near the basket.
The Bruins got out early in the first quarter, scoring 26 points and holding the Bluejays to only four through the first 10 minutes. Rice began her explosion in the first quarter, scoring the first bucket of the game on a crossover jumper. She finished the quarter in double figures, with ten points on 4-7 shooting. Dugalić was also in action in the first, picking up seven points, six rebounds, and a block.
UCLA was outscored 19-16 in the second quarter, but a balanced offensive effort maintained their lead. Rice led the team with five points in the frame. Junior Gabriela Jaquez completed a three-point play off of an offensive rebound and Timea Gardiner laced a three. Freshman Kendall Dudley was also impactful in the second, scoring off of a reverse layup.
The Bruins extended the lead to 30 points in the third quarter. Rice contributed five points to get her to 20 by the end of the third frame. Freshman Elina Aarnisalo finished the quarter with four points and two rebounds. Dugalić achieved her double-double in only three quarters. In the final seconds of the frame, junior Londynn Jones hit her first three-pointer of the night off of an assist from Dugalić.
UCLA finished the game effectively in the fourth quarter. Janaiah Barker contributed two points, three rebounds, and an assist in the quarter, including a hustle play to save the ball from going out of bounds to provide an assist for Jones. Dugalić continued to make an impact on both sides of the court, picking up two points and four defensive rebounds in the final ten minutes.

The Bruins will return home to face Nebraska at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Sunday, Dec. 29. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. PST and will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus.
