Top-Ranked UCLA Earns Two Top-10 Wins

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.ย -- No. 1 UCLA (26-4) posted a pair of 3-2 victories against top-10 teams on Friday at the Center of Effort Challenge at Cal Poly's Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex.ย The Bruins opened by exacting revenge against No. 10 LMU (21-9) in the morning and then posting their third win of the year over No. 4 Florida State (26-6) in the late afternoon. It marked the 17th-consecutive win for the Bruins, who improved their all-time record to 20-6 against the Lions. The Bruins also improved to 17-9 all-time against the Seminoles, winning their fourth consecutiveย meeting in the series.
With the Bruins leading 2-1, graduate student Jaden Whitmarsh and senior Tessa Van Winkle clinched the dual victory on court four over LMU's Cassie Chinn and Chloe Hooker, 21-13, 23-21.
Junior Natalie Myszkowski and redshirt freshman Ensley Alden clinched the Bruins' win over Florida State with a 21-17, 21-18 win on court five over Kaeli Crews and Maddie Trusty.

UP NEXT: The Bruins conclude pool play at No. 6 Cal Poly (21-4) inย the Center of Effort Challenge tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. PT. A win over the Mustangs will put UCLA in the championship final for a 5:45 p.m. start against the winner of No. 2 USC and No. 5 TCU.
