Pair of Bruins Earn Gold at NORCECA Championship

The U.S. Men's U21 National Team, featuring incoming UCLA men's volleyball recruits Sean Kelly (Loyola HS) and Trent Taliaferro (JSerra HS), captured the gold at the 2024 NORCECA Continental Championships on Sunday by beating Canada in straight sets in Nogales, Mexico. The victory guarantees the U.S. a spot in the 2025 FIVB U21 World Cup.
Kelly recorded 12 kills in the gold medal match which was the first gold for the U.S. in the event since 2016. The 2024 edition of the NORCECA Men's U21 Continental Championship was the first since 2018 when the U.S placed fourth.

June 11 – U.S. defeated Nicaragua 3-0 (Kelly had 6 kills)
June 12 – U.S. defeated Suriname 3-0 (Kelly had 8 kills and Taliaferro had a block and helped set the team to a .500 attack percentage)
June 13 – U.S. defeated Mexico 3-1 (Kelly had 11 kills)
Semifinals
June 15 – U.S. defeated Cuba 3-0 (Kelly had 13 kills while hitting .600)
Gold Medal Match
June 16 – U.S. defeated Canada 3-0 (Kelly had 12 kills)
