Emma Malabuyo to Compete at World Championships

UCLA graduate student assistant coach Emma Malabuyo will compete on balance beam and floor exercise for the Philippines at the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships on Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

The Philippines competes in Subdivision 7 during qualifications. Malabuyo needs to finish in the Top 8 to qualify for the individual apparatus finals.

Qualifications can be streamed on Eurovision Sport. The Philippines competes on Tuesday at 3pm local time (1am PT). Apparatus finals for beam and floor are on Saturday, Oct. 25, with competition beginning at 2pm local time (Midnight PT) and streaming available on Peacock.
This is Malabuyo's first-ever World Championships. She competed for the Philippines at the 2024 Olympics and is a three-time Asian Championships medalist, winning floor exercise gold and all-around bronze in 2024 and floor exercise silver in 2023. Malabuyo was also an alternate for the U.S. team at the 2020 Olympics and won a total of 16 medals at the City of Jesolo Trophy from 2016-19, including gold in the all-around, beam and floor in 2018. 

Malabuyo finished her collegiate career with UCLA last season as a four-time balance beam All-American and three-time conference team champion. She helped lead UCLA to a runner-up finish at the 2025 NCAA Championships and was the NCAA runner-up on balance beam with a score of 9.975.
