December 16, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LOS ANGELES โ The No. 4-ranked UCLA Bruins defeated the Cal Poly Mustangs by the fourth-largest margin in program history, 115-28. The 87-point win marks the largest margin of victory in the NCAA era.
ย
All five UCLA starters scored in double figures.
ย
Senior Kiki Rice led the way for the Bruins with 23 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Senior Lauren Betts earned her second-consecutive double-double, recording 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Graduate student Gianna Kneepkens finished with 19 points, two rebounds, and five assists. Senior Gabriela Jaquez reached 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Graduate student Charlisse Leger-Walker concluded with 14 points, two rebounds, and seven assists.
ย
Lauren Betts took over in the first quarter, scoring eight of UCLA's first 10 points, including six straight. Staying strong on the defensive side of the ball, Kneepkens got her first of six steals, which tied her career-high, and was complemented by a Dugalić finish on the other side.
ย
Following a three-point basket by Cal Poly with 2:46 left, Leger-Walker responded with a three of her own off a Lena Bilić assist. Shortly after, UCLA scored on back-to-back Mustang turnovers, resulting in Lauren Betts gaining a steal, assist, and scoring two points within the span of 30 seconds. When Cal Poly responded with a quick timeout with 46 seconds left in the quarter and a two-point basket, Rice answered with a 3-pointer to conclude the first.ย
ย
ย
Dugalić and Kneepkens started the second quarter in sync, with Dugalić knocking down a 3-pointer off a Kneepkens assist. Kneepkens continued the action on the next possession, grabbing a steal and finishing a fast break layup in the paint. Following her lead, Dugalić got a steal on the next possession, which resulted in a Kneepkens three-point finish. ย
After coming back into the game, Bilić made an immediate impact, blocking a 3-point shot attempt and forcing the 24-second violation. Redshirt-sophomore Amanda Muse followed her lead, blocking a shot at the 2:45 mark and forcing a Cal Poly travel. With the momentum on their side, the Bruins closed the half on a 27-0 run, with Dugalić hitting a three on the last play of the half. Cal Poly went scoreless for the final 7:30 minutes and only recorded three total points in the quarter.
ย
ย
Leger-Walker played with complete dominance in the third quarter, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the field in addition to her two assists. With 8:32 left, she recorded her first steal of the quarter, taking it herself across the court where she crossed an opponent before finishing the lay-up. She added two more steals in the quarter, scoring two more points before assisting a Jaquez 3-pointer.
ย
Following the media timeout, the Bruins went on a 17-1 run, scoring on seven-straight possessions. Rice scored eight points within this span, hitting two shots from distance in the process. Freshman Sienna Betts scored her first collegiate points off two free throws. UCLA outscored Cal Poly 31-5 in the quarter.
