Nine Members of 2024 Bruin Squad Begin Pro Careers

Nine members of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament Champion UCLA women's soccer team have begun their professional careers. Quincy McMahon, Jayden Perry, Lilly Reale, Ryan Campbell and Sofia Cook have signed with NWSL teams. Ayo Oke will play in Mexico, and Alice Barbieri and Maya Evans will make Italy home. Additionally, Meg Boade is a non-roster invitee at the Washington Spirit's preseason camp.ย
McMahon, who was a three-year starter as a defender and a starter at forward last season for the Bruins, signed a three-year contract with San Diego Wave FC. In her career at UCLA, she played in 86 games with 78 starts and totaled eight goals and 26 assists. Her 26 assists rank No. 8 all-time at UCLA. She earned three all-conference awards, two all-region awards and was named the 2024 Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player.ย
Perry, also a three-year starter on the Bruin backline, signed with Portland Thorns FC, joining former Bruin teammate Reilyn Turner, as well as UCLA alumna Jessie Fleming. The 2024 Big Ten Tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player played in 86 games with the Bruins and made 66 starts. She totaled seven goals in her career and was a two-time all-conference selection. Last season, she helped the Bruin defense record national-best numbers for shutouts (16) and goals against average (0.41).
Reale, Campbell and Cook all signed with NJ/NY Gotham FC. Reale, the 2022 Honda Sport Award winner and College Cup Most Outstanding Defensive Player, started and played in 83 games for the Bruins. The three-time All-American and three-time conference Defensive Player of the Year was also just the fourth Bruin ever to earn four first-team all-conference honors. With Reale at center back, the 2024 Bruin defense allowed just 10 goals in 2024 and posted 16 shutouts, numbers that rank No. 3 all-time at UCLA. Campbell was an All-American for the Bruins in 2024 as a graduate transfer after earning Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year honors at Stanford the year prior. At UCLA, she led the nation in shutouts with 16, a total that ranks No. 2 on UCLA's single-season shutout list and No. 8 on UCLA's career list. Campbell played in every minute of every game for the Bruins and posted a 0.41 goals against average to rank fifth nationally. Cook played in 56 games and made 30 starts at midfield in three seasons at UCLA. She helped the Bruins win a national championship as a freshman, scoring seven goals, including the game-winner in overtime in the NCAA quarterfinals. In 2024, she tied for the team lead in goals scored with four; three of those goals were game-winners. Cook was a first-team all-region and all-conference selection in 2024.ย
Oke will play for Liga MX Femenil club Pachuca in Mexico. A two-time all-conference player, Oke joined the Bruins in 2023 after two years at California. She started and played in all 19 games for UCLA in 2023 and earned All-Pac-12 honors. In 2024, she played in 15 games and totaled two goals and one assist in postseason play, including the game-winner in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals. Oke is one of four Bruins playing in Liga MX, joining Karina Rodriguez (Club America) and Anika Rodriguez and Maricarmen Reyes (Tigres).
Barbieri and Evans will play together in Italy, joining Serie A club Sampdoria. Barbieri played for the Bruins in 2024 after three seasons at Oregon. As a Bruin, she played in 17 games and started nine. At Oregon, she logged 36 starts in 55 games. Evans played three seasons at UCLA after beginning her career at California. She was a member of UCLA's 2022 NCAA Championships squad and played in 46 games with 12 starts as a Bruin, including five starts as a forward in 2024.ย
Boade will compete for a spot on the Washington Spirit squad as a non-roster invitee. Boade played for UCLA in 2024 as a graduate transfer after playing four years at Northwestern and earning all-region honors twice. As a Bruin, she played in all 24 games and made 18 starts, scoring one goal and recording two assists. She set Northwestern's single-season assists record in 2023 with 14.ย
