No. 2 Bruins Trounce Badgers, 91-61

MADISON, Wis. - No. 2-ranked UCLA Women's Basketball (28-1, 16-1 Big Ten) won its 28th game of the season against Wisconsin at Kohl Center in Madison, Wisc., on Wednesday night. The final score was 91-61.
Junior Lauren Betts recorded her 15th double-double of the season over the Badgers (13-15, 4-13 Big Ten). She finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds while missing only one shot in the game. The game was also Betts' 14th 20-point game of the season and her second game shooting over 90 percent from the field (at No. 8 Maryland, 14-15 FG).
Junior Timea Gardiner also finished with her first double-double as a Bruin, recording 14 points and 10 rebounds on 5-9 shooting. Junior Londynn Jones also finished in double figures with 13 points while shooting 50 percent from the field.
The Bruins jumped out to a 10-point lead after the first quarter, leading the Badgers 22-12 after the period. On her first touch of the game, Betts scored a layup, picked up the foul, and hit her free throw to get three quick points. She finished the quarter with 11 points on 5-6 shooting alongside five rebounds in her first ten minutes. Betts also recorded a block, which was quickly converted into a field goal by Gabriela Jaquez. Jones also showed her ability on both ends of the floor, stealing the ball and then scoring off of a jumper on the fast break.
UCLA extended its lead over Wisconsin to 17 points in the second quarter. Rice got the frame started by hitting a 3-pointer on the first possession. Betts had another standout quarter, finishing with nine points and three rebounds on her way to recording 20 points in the first half. Alongside Rice and Betts, four other Bruins scored in the second quarter, with Gardiner hitting a 3-pointer and Jaquez completing a tip-in after an offensive board. Freshmen Elina Aarnisalo and Zania Socka-Nguemen also scored two points each in the period. UCLA headed into halftime up 45-28.
The Bruins hit five 3-pointers in the third quarter to extend their lead to 30 points. Angela Dugalić hit a pair of early triples on back-to-back possessions while the Bruins' defense held the Badgers without a made field goal for the first five minutes of the quarter. Jones also finished the quarter with two 3-pointers and two other field goals, including one off of a bounce pass from Aarnisalo that split two defenders. Gardiner added the Bruins' fifth and final 3-pointer to contribute to the team's 70-40 lead going into the final quarter.
UCLA used a balanced attack to maintain its thirty-point advantage over Wisconsin in the fourth quarter. Gardiner finished the quarter with six points thanks to two made 3-pointers. Socka-Nguemen also contributed six points while missing only one shot in the quarter. Tonight's game was UCLA's third thirty-point win over a Big Ten conference opponent and is the team's final regular-season away game of the 2024-2025 season.

The Bruins will return home to Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom to face off against No. 4-ranked USC on Saturday, March 1. The game will tip off at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on FOX.
