LOS ANGELESย -- No. 1 UCLA (9-1) earned another pair ofย victories on the final dayย of competition in the Battle for LA at Mapes Beach on Sunday beating Pepperdine, 4-1, in the morning and sweeping CSUN, 5-0, in the afternoon.ย With the 11th-straight win over the Waves, the Bruins improved to 14-6 overall against Pepperdine. UCLA extended its winning streak to six (6-0) in the series against the Matadors.
In the first dual against Pepperdine, the Bruinsย went up 1-0 UCLA on court two as graduate student Peri Brennan and senior Natalie Myszkowski took down Madison Oriskovich and Gabriella Perez in straight sets, 21-9, 21-12.
The Bruins would earn their second point on court four as redshirt freshman Kaley Mathews and freshman Alexa Fernandez defeated the Waves' Emma Bubelis and Marley Johnsonย 21-11, 21-13.
Freshman Sally Perez and junior Maggie Boyd clinched the winย on court one over Pepperdine's Kate Clermont and McKenna Thomas, 21-12, 21-14.
UCLA's court five pair ofย freshman Harper Cooper and senior Sophie Moore put the Bruins up 4-0 with a 21-14, 21-10 win over Emi Erickson and Deanie Woodruff.
The Bruins' redshirt sophomore tandem of Kenzie Brower and Ensley Alden fell to Emma Eden and Ella Foti in three sets, 21-11, 19-21, 13-15 on court three to provide the 4-1 final.
Graduate student Tessa Van Winkle and redshirt freshman Hannah Fleming defeated Kenzi McSpadden and Bella Avelar inย exhibition action on court six, 21-10, 21-18.
In the dual against the Matadors, Brennan and Myszkowskiย again put the Bruins on the board first with an easy 21-7, 21-11 win on court two over Tia Mendiola and Ainsley Patrick.
UCLA went up 2-0 on court four as Fleming (making her collegiate debut) and Van Winkle defeated CSUN's Layla Cederlind and Maleya Miles, 21-18, 21-8.
Freshman Adelina Okazaki and senior Reagan Hope clinched the victory on court five with a 21-7, 21-17 win over the Matadors' Hannah Heflin and Morgan Gillinger.
Boyd and Perez quickly made it 4-0 with a 21-10, 21-9 win over Kinley Lindhardt and Tasha Mae on court one.
UCLA's court three pair of Alden and Brower clinched the sweep with a 21-14, 21-11 win over Haley Coggins and Dylan Hall.
Cassie Dodd and Taylor posted an exhibition win over Elena Gonzalez-Hughes and Julia Bazylevychย 21-13, 21-13.
