Bruins Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Zone E Diving Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. โ€” The UCLA diving team wrapped up competition at the 2025 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships strongly on Wednesday, as Molly Brascia earned a spot at NCAAs on 1m.

Day Three Recap
Molly Brascia was UCLA's lone participant in the 1m competition on the final day of zones. The sophomore, took 12th place in the prelims session with a score of 244.35, advancing to finals. In the finals session she secured UCLA's third NCAA Qualifier of the week by finishing eighth overall in the competition with a score of 507.65

The sophomore thus secured her first NCAA Championships appearance, and became UCLA's third overall qualifier in 2025 on the dive side. ย ย 

Day Two Recap
Cheng and Salvitti both qualified for the finals of the platform competition on Tuesday afternoon. Cheng took first place in the prelims round with an overall score of 310.00, and averaged 62.00 points per round, with a session high of 66.00 during her fourth of five dives.

Salvitti also advanced to finals on Tuesday, taking 10th overall in prelims with a score of 233.90. The senior averaged almost 47 points per round in the prelims with a session high score of 54.00 during her third dive.

Laura Fisher also took part in the prelims round on Tuesday and finished in 28th place with an overall score of 192.95.

As for the finals session, Cheng finished on top, winning her first NCAA Zones event in the process. The junior had finished runner-up at zones in both 2023 and 2024. She finally got on the top step on Tuesday, winning the platform competition with an overall score of 612.10.

Maya Salvitti also placed eighth in the finals session, securing a spot at NCAAs for the first time in her collegiate career. Salvitti, a senior took eighth place with a score of 481.25.

Day One Recap
The UCLA diving team opened the 2025 NCAA Zoe E Diving Championships strongly on Monday with Eden Cheng qualifying for the NCAA meet in the 3-meter championship.

All four of UCLA's athletes competed on Monday with Molly Brascia, Eden Cheng, Laura Fisher, and Maya Salvitti all taking part in the 3m competition.

Cheng took fourth in the preliminary round with a score of 301.45, and four of her six dives in the prelims were scored over 54 points, with a high of 55.50 in the fifth round. Cheng then finished seventh overall in the finals session to qualify for her third NCAA Championships in three years. She finished with a total score of 589.80 to earn her spot at NCAAs.

Salvitti also advanced to finals with a ninth place finish in prelims of 289.50. The senior had two scores of over 50 points, including a preliminary high of 57.40 in the third round. She then took 13th overall with a total score of 561.50.

Each of the top eight finishers in Monday's championship received an automatic bid into NCAAs. Divers nine through 12 will receive a bid into NCAAs in 3M should they secure an auto-bid in another event this week.

Brascia and Fisher also took part in the preliminary round on Monday. Brascia finished just outside the top-18 qualifiers who made it to finals, finishing 20th, with a score of 268.00, while Fisher finished 34th overall with a score of 244.85.

Up Next: UCLA will head back to Seattle for the NCAA Championships March 19-23.
