No. 2-Seed UCLA Advances to Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 2-seed UCLA Bruins (29-2, 16-2 Big Ten) won their 2025 TIAA Big Ten Tournament semifinal game over No. 3-seed Ohio State University at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday evening. The Bruins' 29th win of the season ties the UCLA Women's Basketball program record for wins in a season as they downed the Buckeyes 75-46.
Junior Londynn Jones hit six 3-pointers to lead both teams in scoring in the win over Ohio State (25-6, 13-5 Big Ten). Jones finished with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 6-for-12 from long distance.
Three other Bruins finished in double figures in the semifinal victory. Junior Lauren Betts scored twelve points alongside six rebounds and three assists. Gabriela Jaquez scored twelve points in the game without missing a single shot, and Angela Dugalić added 10 points as well as nine rebounds.
The Bruins got out to an early lead over the Buckeyes through a balanced offensive effort in the first quarter. Gabriela Jaquez scored the game's first points on a driving layup after Betts won the tip-off. Jaquez finished the first frame with seven points without missing a shot to lead both teams in scoring. Rice had four points, two rebounds, and a steal through the first ten minutes. Elina Aarnisalo hit a buzzer beater to put the Bruins up 22-8 at the end of the first quarter.
UCLA was firing from all cylinders in the second quarter, finishing the first half up 23 points. Eight Bruins scored in the first half, and UCLA recorded 13 assists on 20 made baskets before the break. Betts led the offensive effort in the second quarter, scoring eight points on 4-5 shooting. Jaquez and Londynn Jones each finished with five points, with Jones' scoring coming in the final minute of play. Rice finished the frame with two points thanks to a rebound and assist from freshman Kendall Dudley; Dudley was one of eight Bruins who recorded a helper in the first 20 minutes. UCLA finished the first half on a 9-0 run to enter the second half up 44-21.

Jones hit three 3-point shots to lead the team in the period with nine points. Dugalić finished the quarter with eight points, including two made 3-pointers. Betts added four points, three rebounds, an assist, and a block in the third frame. The Bruins' dominant third quarter performance came from both ends of the floor, with the team going on a 14-0 run and holding the Buckeyes scoreless for almost seven minutes.
UCLA was consistent in the fourth quarter to secure their semifinal victory. Jones finished the quarter with a team-high six points thanks to two 3-pointers. Freshman Zania Socka-Ngueman finished the quarter with two points and two assists, while Aarnisalo recorded four rebounds and two assists. UCLA's 29-point victory is the third-largest margin of victory in Big Ten tournament semifinal history.
