No. 2 UCLA Beats No. 4 LMU, No. 12 ASU

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.ย -- No. 2 UCLA (26-4) won a pair of dualsย against nationally-ranked teams on Friday to open play at the Center of Effort Challenge at Swansonย Beach Volleyball Complex. The Bruins opened with a 3-2 win over No. 4 LMU (26-5) in the afternoon and then ended the day with a 5-0 sweep of No. 12 Arizona State (17-11) in the nightcap. The Bruins improved to 21-6 in the series history against the Lions and to 12-1 in the series with their 12th-straight win over the Sun Devils.
In the first dual against LMU, Ensley Alden and Harper Cooperย clinched the Bruins'ย victory on court five with a 10-21, 21-14, 19-17 come-from-behind win over Tanon Rosenthal and Poletti Corrales.
In the second dual against ASU, the Bruins' court three duo of Kenzie Brower and Jessie Smith clinched the win with a 21-13, 21-11 win over the Sun Devils' Olivia McElroy and Anya Pemberton. Then Alden and Cooper completed the sweep with a 21-15, 21-18 win on court five over Layla Williams and Ava Haughy.
UP NEXT: The Bruins conclude the Center of Effort Challenge tomorrow against No. 1 TCU (20-4) at 12:45 p.m. PT and then end the day with a playoff match. Right now UCLA leads the pool at 2-0 and will play for the championship if they beat the Horned Frogs.
